Dr. Esaenwi Sudum

Dr. Esaenwi Sudum, is a native of Gure community in Khana Local Government Area of Rivers State, Nigeria. He studied Applied Physics with an option in Electronics at the Rivers State University of Science and Technology, Port Harcourt where he was ranked among the top five students and graduated with a second-class upper division. Dr. Esaenwi holds an MSc in Astronomy Instrumentation from the Department of Physics and Astronomy, University of Nigeria, Nsukka in 2014. He also holds an M.Phil in Space Science and Astrophysics from Enugu State University of Science and Technology with a CGPA of 4.77 on a 5-point scale rated first class in 2018, and a PhD in Space Science Instrumentation and Photometry from the Rivers State University, Port Harcourt with a CGPA of 4.58 rated as first class on a 5-point scale. He is an Instructor on the Pan-African Summer school for Emerging Astronomers, sponsored by the Canadian Institute for Theoretical Astrophysics, Dunlap Institute for Astronomy and Astrophysics, University of Toronto, National Astronomical Observatory of Japan, IAU office of Astronomy for Development, and National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA).
Dr. Esaenwi has 10 years of research experience as a science officer at the National Space Research and Development Agency, Abuja (2009 -2019), over 5 years of teaching experience in Electronics and Space Science Instrumentation as a Lecturer in the Department of Physics, Rivers State University, Port Harcourt. He has travelled widely across Africa and Asia to obtained forefront research and technical experiences and received several international awards which includes: (a) IAU/OAD International Grant on “HBSST” July, 2017, (b) ASTROLAB Workshop award, Department of Physics, University of Zululand, Durban South Africa June, 2018, (c) IAU/OAD International Grant on Hands on Astronomy Curriculum Training for Science Teachers in Nigeria HOACTS, 2019, (d) UNLEASH technical Lab Innovation workshop in Shenzhen China, November, 2019, (e) IAU/OAD International Covid-19 support Grant on Hands on Astronomy Curriculum Training for Science Teachers in Nigeria HOACTS, 2020, (f) Asteroid Discovery International Astronomical Search Collaboration-Observation for Near-Earth Objects and Main Belt Asteroids, South African Astronomical Observatory Cape Town, 2023. He has published about 30 scholarly articles in the field of Electronics, instrumentation and Space Science in international and local Journals respectively.
